The Virtual Bulletin Board

Rather recently, a groupie of The Librarian's Perch (okay, one of my loyal patrons) shared a nifty website with me, and now I'm going to share that website with all of you.  Beware--this website can become rather addictive, as I discovered.

The website is called Pinterest, and it's essentially a bulletin board online.  You can have a number of boards on whatever topics you like, from travel to crafts to food to whatever else your heart desires.  When you're browsing the Internet and come across images you like or find interesting, you can "pin" them to a board that you specify ("pinning" is quite easy to do, especially after you put the "Pin It" feature on your Bookmarks toolbar).  You can follow other people's boards, make comments on their pictures, and even pin pictures from other boards to your own.

For my own boards, I have "Books I Like," "Books I Want to Read," and "Movies I Like," among others.  I've just started work on my boards today (you have to "Request an Invite" and then wait to be welcomed into the Pinterest community before you can start posting), but I hope you'll visit my boards from time to time as I add my book picks and other things I find interesting.  And hopefully, some of you will create your own boards that you will share with me and others.  Some cyberfood for thought.

Having fun with my virtual bulletin boards on the perch.
